The Juanita High School boys golf team will have strength in experience this season with four returning seniors.
Weston Railton, Kevin Barry, Travis Helton and Joel Johnson will take to the 3A KingCo courses during their final year of eligibility.
But the power behind the team will be two juniors at the top of the lineup.
Colten Kleis and Micheal Bell helped lead the team in 2008 and hope to have a dramatic impact on the league this year.
“Colten Kleis medaled four times last year,” said Rebels’ head coach David Friedman, of his top returning player from 2008. “He qualified for district and received all KingCo honors.”
Kleis will shoot to make it to state this season and lead the Rebels past the likes of Bellevue and Mercer Island.
Bell will attempt to build on a good offseason that saw him participate in Washington Junior Golfing Association events.
“Michael medaled two times last year,” said Friedman. “He has improved his game over the summer.”
Two other returning juniors, Chris Ryan and Chase Ludy, will attempt to make an impact in 2009.
Joining the team will be four players with little experience but the talent to make their presence known. Seniors Jared Grandy and Jordan Padilla, along with sophomores Caleb Fleming and Joshua Fleming, will try to elevate the team and compete at the 3A KingCo medalist meet in November.
