The Juanita High School volleyball team wanted to prove it was one of the elite squads in 3A KingCo this season. The Rebels got a chance to do just that as they traveled to Mount Si for a match against the top team in 3A KingCo Tuesday.
But just like all the other teams that have faced off with the Wildcats, Juanita lost a competitive 3-1 contest.
Mount Si, which is undefeated in league play this season, came out strong but the Rebels refused to back down as they shocked the home team with a 25-23 first-game victory.
But the Wildcats would prove why they lead the league in wins, scratching back to tie the match with a decisive 25-18 second-game win.
The Rebels had their chances during the third game, but would ultimately lose by just five points, 25-20.
With Juanita on the ropes and needing a fourth-game win to stay alive, the Wildcats experience proved to be the difference. The 25-18 victory for Mount Si put match away.
Juanita was led on offense by Brittany Webster with nine kills and Vicky Neam with eight. Webster led the defense with 12 digs, while Alona Chenish compiled 21 assists.
Juanita is 2-2 during the regular season and 2-4 overall.
