Juanita beats rival Lake Washington for KingCo No. 3 | Playoff update

After a season of facing off against each other, Juanita earned the final bragging rights on Thursday, Feb. 9 beating Lake Washington in the KingCo tournament 61-34.

After a season of facing off against each other, Juanita earned the final bragging rights on Thursday, Feb. 9 beating Lake Washington in the KingCo tournament 61-34.

Juanita will enter the SeaKing district tournament on Saturday as the No. 3 team, while Lake Washington will be the No. 4 team.

Juanita will host Holy Names at 1 p.m. on Saturday, while Lake Washington will travel to play Bainbridge at 7 p.m. on Feb. 11. Winners will move forward to play at Bellevue College on Tuesday, Feb. 14, while a loss would end the season.

During the game on Thursday, Juanita was up 13-6 at the end of the first quarter, but Lake Washington fought back into the game in the second quarter, outscoring the Rebels 10-8.

The Rebels ran away with the third quarter, hitting 23 points, while holding the Kangs to just eight. The final quarter was 17-10 for Juanita, to end the game.

Mikayla Jones had 20 points for the team, with Kate Cryderman had 13 points, while Winnie Levitt had seven. Bre Carter added four, Taylor Lloyd added three and Molly Grager and Mckenzie Waltar each had two points.
