The Juanita High girls’ soccer team posted its most decisive victory of the season on Tuesday, Oct. 18, beating Sammamish 4-0 at Sammamish High School.
The win held the Rebels (2-6-3 KingCo, 3-6-4) steady for the 5th seed to the conference tournament with three matches remaining. The top five Class 3A teams qualify.
Juanita had scored five goals in its previous 12 matches, including a 1-0 win over Sammamish on Sept. 22.
Junior Sophia Collins opened the scoring on an assist from senior Katie Ryan in the fourth minute.
Paige McKenna scored in the 30th minute for a 2-0 halftime lead. Brooklyn Brace and Ellie Eason scored in the 60th and 61st minutes, respectively.
Next, the Rebels are scheduled to play Mercer Island on Thursday Oct. 20 at Bergh Field in Kirkland.
Bellevue 2, Lake Washington 1.
The Kangs came close to a big result against the league-leading squad on Tuesday evening at Mac Field.
Bellevue (9-0-2, 11-0-2) took a 1-0 lead to halftime.
Lake Washington forward Gracie Sturdevant scored an unassisted goal in the 46th minute, tying the game at one goal apiece.
Bellevue sophomore Grace Nesbitt scored in the 59th minute, chipping the ball over Lake Washington keeper Cass Barnes for the game-winning goal.
A draw would have held the Kangs (8-3-0, 9-3-1) within two points of Bellevue with three matches remaining against teams below Lake Washington in the standings.
Next, Lake Washington is scheduled to play Liberty on Oct. 20 at Mac Field. The Patriots won 3-0 on Sept. 27, but sit four points behind the Kangs in the standings.
