Juanita boys tennis starts season with two losses

The Juanita High School boys tennis team lost its first two meets of the year last week. But the slim 4-3 loss to Liberty on Sept. 8 gives head coach Justin Ochsner hope for his young team.

The Rebels earned two wins during doubles action despite losing the No. 1 match. Tru Vue and Michael Chang of Juanita defeating Daniel Craig and Ryan Skanse of Liberty 6-0, 6-2, during the No. 2 match, while match No. 3 saw Anthony Cardinelli and Jeong Huh of Juanita defeate Garrett Timm and Ben Pinsky 6-0, 6-3.

The Rebels lost the first three singles matches during the meet, but Austin Chen defeated Hayden Meriwether of Liberty 7-5, 6-2.

Against Interlake on Thursday, the Rebels were defeated 6-1. The only win for Juanita came at No. 2 doubles as Anthony Cardinelli and Jeong Huh of Juanita beat John Kim and John Gim ,7-6, 6-2.
