Running in a 3A Kingco double-dual meet last night against Mount Si and Sammamish, the Rebel boys and girls both won the Varsity meet with 35 and 30 points, respectively.
On the boys’ side, Santos Zaid won his race with a time of 17 minutes, 53 seconds, followed by freshman Noah Kells (18:28, 7th), Erik Oldenburger (18:43, 8th) and Nick Goodwin (18:47, 9th).
On the girls’ side, Alexis Manns was tops for the Rebels in 20:50 followed by Emily Peterson in 21:21.
Also, Lake Washington junior Devon Grove won a Kingco double-dual race at Marymoor yesterday afternoon, beating the top racers from Interlake and Mercer Island in a time of 16:12. Also finishing under 18 minutes was sophomore Kurt Lamon (17:54).
For the girls, top finisher was Chloe Burns in 21:10.
Rebels, Kangs fall in volleyball
The Juanita High volleyball team (0-4, 0-5) is still searching for its first game win of the season after being swept 3-0 by Mercer Island, 25-14, 25-5, 25-14, on Tuesday night at home. Sarah Brennan led the offense with a game-high nine kills.
The Lake Washington team (1-3, 3-3) also lost to top-ranked Mount Si, 3-1. The Kangs won a tight first game 26-24 before proceeding to drop three straight, 27-25, 25-27 and 14-25.
Jordan Roberts had a great game for the Kangs with 13 kills, but Mount Si standout Lindsay Carr single-handedly demolished the Kangs with a school-record 35 kills.
