Megan Murray and Lisa Nelson combined for a 2-hitter as the Juanita High softball team drilled Sammamish 13-3 in KingCo League action on Thursday, April 28 at Juanita High School.
Murray pitched three innings and two outs of the fourth frame, giving up one hit, while striking out three batters and walking three. Lisa Nelson stepped in to close the last four outs.
The Rebels (11-5 overall, 11-3) essentially clinched one of the league’s top-two seeds for the league playoffs, leading Bellevue by four games in the loss column with four games remaining.
And as has been the case over the last few weeks, the home run bug continues to work through the Rebels’ dugout.
Kristina Warford hit her fourth home run of the season to lead off the bottom of the fourth inning, giving the Rebels a 6-2 edge.
Lexi Blackburn added a dinger to left field — her fifth of the season — to lead off the bottom of the fifth inning.
Gianna Paribello had a huge game as well, finishing 3-4 with two doubles and five RBIs. Briar Swayne finished 3-4 as well, hitting two doubles with two RBIs.
Next, the Rebels are scheduled to play Interlake at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, April 29 at Juanita High School. A win or a Bellevue loss would set Juanita’s top-two seed in stone.
