The Juanita High School girls basketball team lost to Holy Names Thursday, 50-44, during the second round of the 3A Sea-King district tournament at Bellevue College.
Both team’s played tough defense to start the contest as they combined for just 15 points during the first quarter. The game stayed close, with the Cougars taking a slim 23-21 lead into half time.
But the third quarter would be Juanita’s downfall, as they only scored six points and fell behind by nine heading into the final quarter of play.
Kimberly Baba led the Rebels with 14 points and teammate Molly Grager scored eight. In contrast, Holy Names had three players score in double figures.
The loss puts Juanita into the consolation bracket with a 7 p.m. game Tuesday against Bellevue.
