The Juanita girls basketball team are enjoying their early success after starting the season with a 4-1 record. One of the team's first games was also it's only loss so far this season, losing 60-52 to 4A Eastlake on Dec. 1.

One of the team’s first games was also it’s only loss so far this season, losing 60-52 to 4A Eastlake on Dec. 1.

Senior captain Kate Cryderman had a team high of 23 points in that game.

The girls quickly rebounded with a 55-49 win over Bellevue on Dec. 4. Mikayla Jones had 17 points in the game, followed by Cryderman’s 12. Both Molly Grager and Taylor Paddock had nine points in the win, while Jessica Latousek had four and Bre Carter and Tayler Lloyd had two.

On Dec. 6 the team team beat Snohomish in a non-conference game, winning 50-31. Again Cryderman led the team with 17 points, Grager had 10, Paddock added nine, while Jones had six.

The next week the team opened up with a league game against Lake Washington, winning 46-35.

This time it was Jones who had the team’s scoring high with 14 points, with Grager putting up 10 of her own, followed by Paddock’s eight and Carter’s seven.

For Lake Washington Hunter Hopkins had the team’s high with 10 points, followed closely by both Whitney Dunlap and Melissa Wilson’s eight points. Cassie Lively had six overall, while Jessica Washington had three.

Last Friday, Dec. 10, the Rebels beat Liberty in one of the closest games of the year. The Juanita girls won 58-56.

Grager had 20 points in the game, while Paddock had 11 and Cryderman had 10. Jones put up eight for the Rebels, followed by Carter and Destry Seiler’s four points a piece.

Lake Washington girls fall to Mount Si, beat Interlake in first weeks of season

After a early season loss to Holy Names, the Lake Washington girls team found a win over Interlake and then lost to Mount Si and Juanita.

In the match against Interlake the Kangs won 76-19. Lake Washington dominated the game, posting points in the double-digits each quarter of the game.

Melissa Wilson and Taylor Solomon each had 17 points in the win, with Kat Whitfield earning 16 of her own. Whitney Dunlap had nine points, with Hunter Hopkins scoring eight and Peyton Wozeniak adding seven.

On Dec. 10 the team lost 53-40 to Mount Si in a KingCo conference game.

The Lady Kangs trailed by one point going into the half with a 25-24 score, but the Wildcats outpaced the team in the second half, adding 28 points to Lake Washington’s 16.

Whitfield had the team’s high of 16 points, with Dunlap adding 10 and Solomon had five points, Wozeniak added four, with Hopkins earning three and Washington putting up two points.
