The season ended with a 45-35 loss to Bellevue in the KingCo tournament for the Juanita girls basketball team.
“We played hard,” said Juanita coach Sam Lee. “We just couldn’t hit any shots. We went cold and couldn’t get into a rhythm until too late in the game.”
Taylor Paddock led the Rebels with nine points, Kimberly Baba and Rachel Marshall each scored six.
Juanita finishes the season 6-15 overall and 4-8 in the KingCo 3A. Lee scheduled a difficult non-league slate to make the Rebels better when the league schedule got into full swing.
“It was will absolutely be the same type of schedule next year or a little tougher,” Lee said. “It was a brutal situation for us, but I think it made us a better team. It certainly got our attention as to how hard we needed to work.”
Olivia Marshall made the KingCo all-league first team. Tori Close and Amanda Wilson made the second team. Kimberly and Michelle Baba made honorable mention. Lee was one of three tri-coaches of the year.
Breezy Rinehart-Young, who led Juanita in scoring and rebounding as a senior last season is impressing at George Fox University. Rinehart-Young is the first player off the bench for the Bruins and averages 4.3 points and 2.9 rebounds per game.
George Fox is 25-0 this season and ranked No. 2 in nationally in Division III.
