Juanita girls slam Sammamish in first round

The Juanita High School girls basketball team blew past Sammamish Tuesday during the first round of the 3A KingCo tournament 51-22 at home. The Rebels defense was suffocating during the first quarter, holding the Totems to just two points. The first half came to a close with Juanita holding a 35-10 lead. The Rebels played out the game, using everyone on the roster and ending Sammamish’s season.

The Rebels scoring was so balanced that no player finished in double figures but 11 players scored during the game. Leading the way for the Rebels were Kate Cryderman (8 points), Kimberly Baba (7), Taylor Paddock (7) and Christine Strahl (7). The Rebels now move on to play in the semi-finals of the 3A KingCo tournament against Bellevue, Thursday at 4:45 p.m. at Bellevue College. The Rebels finished the season just one game behind the Wolverines and split the season series.
