The first day of the state track and field meet began well for the Juanita High School girls track and field team, which is in search of a team title.
Juanita senior Molly Grager completed her ultimate goal by winning a state title in the high jump, giving her team good start to the three-day event on Thursday at Mount Tahoma High School in Tacoma. The meet continues today and will all the events will be completed on Saturday.
Grager cleared 5-feet, 4-inches to win the 3A state title. She only cleared 4-feet, 10-inches during last year’s state meet, a disappointing finish to a great junior year.
Grager won the district title with the same 5-feet, 4-inch effort last week in West Seattle.
