Juanita, Lake Washington head to district event this week | Track and field

The Juanita track and field team earned top times at the KingCo event last week, with the girls team finishing second overall, while the boys took fourth.

Athletes who finished in the top five at KingCo moved on to this week’s district competition. Districts begin Wednesday afternoon at the Southwest Complex in West Seattle. The finals will be held on Friday, May 20. The first events begin at 4 p.m.

The Juanita girls finished in second place at the KingCo event, held at Juanita High School, with a score of 146.5. The boys were fourth overall, with 113 points.

The Lake Washington girls took sixth overall with 43 points, while the boys were seventh with 18 points.

In the boys competition, Alex Wallin won the 110 meter hurdle race in 16.21 seconds. Teammates Russell Williams and Vincent Ly were second and third. Travis Marshall won the 100 meter dash in 11.27 seconds. The boys 4×100 relay team of Alec Martin, Ly, Austin Hilliker and Marshall took second in 43.85. In the 400 meter race, Hilliker took fourth, while Michael Przystupa was fifth. In the 300 meter hurdles event, Wallin took first in 40.74, while Lake Washington’s Filip Juric was fourth. Marshall also took second in the 200 meter race for Juanita in 23.11.

In the 4×400 relay race, the Juanita boys team of Hilliker, Przystupa, James Bauman and Wallin took third overall.

In the field events, Christian Robertson was second for Juanita in the high jump, hitting the 5 feet 6 inch mark.

Wallin finish the boys triple jump in second place, while Marshall was third and Przystupa took fourth.

In the girls competition Kathryn Wuchter took fourth in the 100 meter hurdles event. Alanna Coker won the girls 100 meter race in 12.44, while Mikayla Jones took third in 13.11. Lake Washington’s Alexandria Hasimoto earned the final spot to the district meet in fifth place. The girls 4×100 relay team of Elise Williamson, Elisa Tran, Alicia Kiehl and Rachel Richardson was fourth overall. Lake Washington’s Anneke Kniestedt qualified for the district meet in the 400 meter race finishing third at KingCo. The Kangs Sara Wilson finished fourth in the 300 hurdles race, and Juanita’s Molly Grager was fifth. Audrey Nordness, from Lake Washington was fifth in 2:26.04 during the girls 800 meter race.

Juanita’s Coker earned another first place finish with a 25.88 200 meter race time, while Jones took fourth. The Rebels relay team of Richardson, Wuchter, Regi Lammers and Jones was first in the 4×200 relay with a time of 1:48.55.

For Lake Washington, in the 4×400 relay, Nordness, Nicola Scutt, Kniestedt and Hashimoto finished in second place with a time of 4:15.58. Juanita’s Grager, Jones, Lammers and Kiehl took fourth place.

In field events, Grager won the high jump with a leap of 5’02. Teammate Wuchter took second in the pole vault, with a leap of 9 feet.

Coker finished second in the long jump, while Richardson was third overall. Coker won the triple jump event in 37’09.5, with Grager in second place at 35’01.5. Richardson took third for the Rebels.

Kate Cryderman won the shot put event, throwing the ball 37’09.5 She also won the discus with a toss of 101’10, six feet farther than the second place thrower from Mercer Island.
