Members of the Juanita and Lake Washington track and field teams earn spots at this weekends state competition after the SeaKing district meet last week. The top five in each event at districts earned a spot to move on to state. The 3A state meet starts Thursday, May 26 at Mount Tahoma High School in Tacoma. The event runs through Saturday, May 28.
In the boys competition Travis Marshall earned a third place finish in the 100 meter race, while Alex Wallin finished third in the 110 meter hurdles. Vincent Ly will also compete in the state hurdles race after a fourth place finish at districts. Wallin will also compete in the 300 hurdles event after a 40.11 time earned a second place finish.
The boys relay team in the 4×100 event, which includes Alec Martin, Ly, Austin Hilliker and Marshall will go to state, after a fifth place finish at districts.
In the boys field events, Wallin and Marshall will compete in the triple jump.
From Lake Washington, Filip Juric missed qualifying for state in the 300 hurdles after a seventh place finish at districts.
In the girls competition for Juanita, Alanna Coker earned spots at state in four events, after first place finish in the 100 and 200 meter races. She will also compete in the long jump and the triple jump.
The Rebels 4×200 relay team of Rachel Richardson, Kathryn Wuchter, Regi Lammers and Mikayla Jones earned a state berth after finishing third at districts.
In the girls field events, Kate Cryderman continued a winning streak in the shot put, taking first place overall with a 38 foot, 4.25 inch throw. She earned second place in the discus competition, while Molly Grager took fourth in the high jump with a 5’01 leap. Richardson and Grager will join Coker in the tripl jump competition.
For Lake Washington sophomore Sara Wilson will compete in the 300 hurdle race after finishing fifth at districts, while the 4×400 relay team of Anneke Kniestedt, Wilson, Nicola Scutt and Audrey Nordness earned a spot at state with a fourth place finish at districts.
