After a tough loss to Mercer Island the week before, Juanita picked things up during a win over Sammamish last Friday night.
The Rebels won at home 35-13, after holding Sammamish scoreless through three quarters.
The night started off with a 5-yard touchdown run by Darrin Laufasa in the first quarter. It was his first of three during the game, the second two which came in the second quarter. The second was a 4-yard run, and the third a 2-yard run to help the team to a 21-0 lead at the half. The team’s fourth touchdown before the break came courtesy of Travis Marshall making a 36-yard run late in the half.
After the break the teams defensive lines kept both sides scoreless for 12 minutes in the third quarter. Cody Otterhold scored a 3-yard touchdown run in the fourth for the Rebels final points of the night.
In the dying moments of the game, Sammamish found some momentum, scoring on an Cody Arviso-Nelson pass to Austin Lee, and then a 53-yard run by Acie Black.
The Rebels will travel to Liberty this Friday, Sept. 30 for another KingCo game beginning at 7 p.m.
Bellevue shuts down Lake Washington
The reigning 3A state champions beat dominated Lake Washington last Friday, beat the Kangs 54-0.
The Kangs, coming off a tough loss the week before to Mount Si, headed to the Wolverines stadium for the game.
Bellevue scored 21 points during the first quarter, followed by another 27 points in the second quarter. Neither team scored in the third quarter, and Lake Washington held Bellevue to just six points in the fourth quarter.
