Juanita competed at the Larry Eason Invitational yesterday at Snohomish High School, with the girls team placing second and the boys finishing eight out of over 50 teams.
The girls team scores 53.5 team points, while the boys scored 27.
“(The boys team was) just two points shy of getting on the podium,” said head coach Neil Kells. “It was a great day for Rebel Track.”
It is the second year in a row that the girls have finished second at the meet.
“It was a long, but amazing day for our kids,” said Kells.
Alanna Coker finished first in the long jump, triple jump and 100 meters. She also placed fifth in the 200 meters.
“Her performances in the long jump and triple jump earned her Female Field Athlete of the Meet,” said Kells. “(It is) the second time she has earned that honor in her career. Myself and the rest of the coaches are proud of our athletes for the performances. They put in a 12 hour day and it all paid of with both teams finishing in the top 10.”
The Rebels will be competing against Bellevue, Sammamish and Liberty at Liberty in a four-way meet.
“Liberty is proving once again be an incredible team and Bellevue always has an entire nation of distance runners to compete against,” said Kells. “We will do our best to hold our own and hopefully come away with some victories.”
