One week removed from its first loss of the season, the Juanita High School football team dropped another game. The Rebels let a 14-0 lead devolve into a loss to Newport 49-28 on Friday at home in Kirkland.

Juanita began the game with a 50-yard touchdown pass from Jared Holden to Pierce Belleman. The Rebels then looked like they would run away with the game, as Dylan Moctezuma returned a Newport fumble 45 yards for a score and the 14-0 lead.

The Knights regained some momentum with a 49-yard touchdown run to end the first quarter.

Newport owned the second quarter, scoring three long touchdowns on the ground from 23-, 60- and 47-yards out.

Two 20-yard touchdown runs to open the second half left Newport with an insurmountable 42-14 lead.

A couple of touchdowns from Rebels running back Salvon Ahmed from 8- and 60-yard out pulled the team back within two touchdowns but it was too late.

Ahmed finished the contest with 150 yards on the ground.

The Rebels fall to 5-2 with the loss and will try to get back in the win column at 7 p.m. on Oct. 24 as they host Liberty.
