Juanita splits doubleheader with Lake Washington | Prep baseball

On Saturday, April 30 the Juanita baseball team played a double header against Lake Washington at Lee Johnson Field. The teams split the afternoon, with Juanita winning the night game 5-2 and Lake Washington taking the earlier game 6-0.

The win over the Kangs snapped a three game losing streak for the Rebels.

Thursday, April 28 the team lost 12-8 to Mount Si. The Rebels held a 2-0 lead going into the fifth inning when Mount Si went for several runs around the bases, scoring all 12 points in the last three innings. The Rebels had five in the sixth, but couldn’t overcome the Mount Si lead. Juanita recorded seven hits and two errors in the game.

The next evening, hosting Bellevue the Rebels lost 8-3. On Saturday, in what would be game two of three, the Rebels lost 5-2.

Once again Juanita had a 1-0 lead for the first two innings, but the Wolves put up two in the third, followed by two in the fifth to overcome the Rebels two runs.

The team is 4-9 in league this season with the playoffs beginning next week.

Lake Washington falls to Interlake

The Lake Washington baseball team lost to Interlake on Friday, April 29. The game, hosted by the Saints, had a 7-2 final score.

The two teams were scoreless until Interlake rounded the bases in the second for a 1-0 lead. They followed it up with two more runs in the second for a 3-0 game before Lake Washington made two big runs in the fourth to close the gap to just one point. The Saints held off the Kangs for the final three innings to take the game. Lake Washington had six hits and one error in the match up, while Interlake recorded 12 hits and one error.

The Kangs, who are 7-5 this season, are in a battle over seeding with Mercer Island and Bellevue on which team will be No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4 going into next week’s KingCo tournament. The No. 2 team earns a bye into the second round.
