The Juanita High boys' tennis team won its first match of the season on Wednesday, Oct. 5, beating Mount Si 5-2 in nonconference action.

The Juanita High boys’ tennis team won its first match of the season on Wednesday, Oct. 5, beating Mount Si 5-2 in nonconference action.

Juanita’s top singles player, Spencer Nokes, beat Mount Si’s Jacob Holmes 6-1, 6-3. Nick Lammers beat Mount Si’s Ryan Cantalini 6-1, 6-3.

The Rebels’ doubles teams all won in two sets.

Juanita’s final matches of the season are scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 6 at Inglemoor High School. The Class 3A KingCo tournament is scheduled for Oct. 10 and 11 on Mercer Island.

Both Kirkland high schools fell in straight sets on Wednesday.

Juanita dropped a conference match to Interlake, 3-0, on the road. The match breaks a string of three consecutive five-set matches for the Rebels (2-7 KingCo, 2-7).

Next, Juanita is scheduled to play on Monday, Oct. 10 at Mercer Island High School.

Lake Washington fell to the No. 2 KingCo Conference team, Bellevue. Up next for the Kangs (3-6, 3-7) is a home match against Sammamish on Monday, Oct. 10.
