Holding on to their second place spot in KingCo last week, the Juanita girls soccer team beat Mercer Island and tied Bellevue.

Tuesday, during a home contest at Bergh Field, the Rebels hosted Mercer Island, whom they beat 1-0. The two teams battled closely through the majority of the game, but Haili Adams finally found an opening in the 70 minute, off an assist from teammate Tori Lee for the game winning goal. Rebel goalie Niki Fausset earned her sixth shutout of the season, the highest in KingCo so far this season.

Two nights later Juanita traveled to Bellevue, where the Rebels faced their first tie of the season. Adams struck again, this time scoring an unassisted goal against the Wolverines in the 23 minute but Bellevue wasn’t ready to accept their defeat. After a strong battle for the rest of the match, Conley Nemyre earned the tying goal with an assist from Madeline Donoguhe in the 79 minute.

The Rebels are 7-2-1 in league this season, with an 8-3-1 overall record.

Lake Washington narrowly misses win over Mount Si

The Lady Kangs of the Lake Washington girls soccer team battled against Mount Si last Thursday, a team sharing a similar league record. The Wildcats took away the win 3-2 during the home contest.

Mount Si created an early deficit for Lake Washington, with a Laura Barnes, Miranda Rawlings goal in the 17 minute, followed by Leslie Steves, Hailey Conway in the 33 minute. After the break Lake Washington’s Amy Johnson connected with the net in the 49 minute to give the Kangs a 2-1 game, thanks to assists from Cassie Lively and Emma Holm. Lively followed suit to tie the game 2-2 with a goal in the 60 minute off of Kate Bebee and Aurora Charouhas. But Mount Si struck once again to end the match with a goal in the 80 minute by Sophia Rouches, assisted by Barnes.

Earlier in the week the team traveled to Interlake, where they won 1-0 over the Saints. Holm scored the only goal of the game off a penalty kick and Noelle Pingree earned the shutout for the Kangs.

The team is currently 4-6 in league play and 4-8 overall this season.
