Juanita wins KingCo, enters postseason | Prep softball

The Juanita Rebels captured their second straight KingCo title, and entered the post season with the No. 1 seed. They will begin the KingCo tournament Friday, May 13 with a 5 p.m. at Mount Si High School.

The Juanita Rebels captured their second straight KingCo title, and entered the post season with the No. 1 seed. They will begin the KingCo tournament Friday, May 13 with a 5 p.m. at Mount Si High School.

In the final week of the regular season, the Rebels beat Interlake and lost a non-league game to Eastlake.

Against the Saints on May 3, the Rebels won 10-0, scoring in every inning, earning 14 hits for the 10 runs. Katie Kent was 3-4 at the plate with two RBI and a home run, while Rachel O’Neill was also 3-4 with three RBI and a home run.

Against Eastlake on Wednesday, May 4 the Rebels lost 7-5. Juanita was up 5-0 going into the sixth inning before Eastlake scored all their runs in the sixth and seventh innings. Eastlake recorded 10 hits and two errors in the game, while Juanita had eight hits and three errors.

Lake Washington wins two before post season

The Lake Washington softball team took two wins before entering the post season as the No. 3 seed in KingCo. The KingCo tournament, began Thursday, May 12 after Reporter deadline. The top four teams from KingCo will go on to next week’s district tournament.

Prior to the post season, the Kangs beat Liberty 12-11 on Tuesday, May 3. The Patriots had a 2-0 early lead, before the Kangs scored four runs in the third inning, followed by three in the fourth for a 7-3 game. In the sixth inning Liberty ran up seven runs, but it wasn’t enough to take the win.

Bethany Bacon was 2-3 at the plate with two runs and four RBI and a triple, while Savannah Brady was 2-3 with three runs and an RBI. Jenny Hill had 3-4 day at the plate with a run and a double.

On Thursday, May 5 the team beat Sammamish 14-1. The Kangs blasted eight runs in the first inning, followed by sixth in the fourth to take the game.
