The Seattle Community College Men’s Basketball team is getting ready for their 5th Annual Free Throws for Charity fundraiser in which they will shoot free throws to raise money for the Seattle Humane Society at 4 p.m., Oct. 14 at the North Seattle campus gymnasium.
This year’s team hosts a Juanita High School alum, returning sophomore Greg Davis. The Juanita Class of 2008 alum will join the Storm and their effort to help homeless animals.
Every year, players collect pledges on a per free throw basis, and then gather to shoot 100 each, coaches included.
“This is a great opportunity to combine basketball with helping out the community,” says head coach Kyle Gray, adding “the players always have a lot of fun.”
The team has set an earning goal of $2,200 for this year’s fundraiser.
In the past, the Storm has donated to the King County Coalition for the Homelessness, American Red Cross, American Cancer Society and Children’s Hospital. For more information, call 509-961-7011 or visit www.freewebs.com/seattleccmensbasketball.
