With Thursday evenings win over Mercer Island, the Juanita girls secured a No. 3 seed to the district tournament, while Mercer Island will be No. 4.
The Rebels, who were the KingCo league champions this season, beat the Islanders 69-60.
With the win the team will face Franklin at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 12 at 1 p.m.
Juanita led the match early in the game, but ended the half down by two to the Islanders. That lead grew to 47-40 in the third quarter and was extended even further in the fourth.
Mikayla Jones had the game high of 28 points, thanks to a huge second half, including a 15 point third quarter. Kate Cryderman had 17 points for the Rebels, and Molly Grager picked up 11 in the match. Bre Carder had nine, while Destry Seiler scored four for the Rebels.
Mercer Island’s Jae Shin had 19 points overall during the game, followed by 15 from Kris Brackmann. Hailey Gullstad picked up eight and Savanna Reid had six. Caroline Carfi and Sarah Taylor each added four to the mix.
The Islanders will take on Bainbridge, at Bainbridge on Saturday.
Juanita girls basketball earn top KingCo honors
The entire starting line up for the Juanita girls basketball team was named to the KingCo team.
Junior Kate Cryderman and sophomore Mikayla Jones earned first team selections, while Molly Grager was picked for the second team. Taylor Paddock and Bre Carter each earn honorable mentions. Head coach Sam Lee was named the conference Coach of the Year.
