The Lake Washington High School baseball team took on defending state champs Mercer Island and lost, 6-0, on Friday in Kirkland. The loss is the Kangs first this season.
The Islanders touched up starting pitcher Connor Johnson and the Kang defense for four first-inning runs and then added two more during the fourth inning.
Johnson finished the game with four innings, six hits, four earned runs, two unearned runs, four walks and seven strikeouts.
The Kangs will try to get back into the win column at 4 p.m. today as they travel to Mercer Island.
