Kirkland-based Northwest University Director of Athletics, Gary McIntosh, announced the hiring of Brian Chud as the school’s new women’s soccer coach. Chud served as an assistant on the NU men’s soccer staff during the 2015 season.

Coach Chud is a 2002 graduate of Northwest U earning a degree in History and was a 3-time team captain of the Eagle men’s soccer team from 1999 to 2002, earning both regional and national recognition. He is still holds the school record in career goals scored and was inducted into the NU Eagle Hall of Fame in March, 2015.

“Hiring Bryan Chud a Northwest University Hall of Famer is an honor and privilege,” commented Gary McIntosh, NU Director of Athletics. “His knowledge of the soccer scene, experience in Ireland, and at the highest levels of the professional game will be unbelievable assets to our soccer program. Equally important is that he has an immense passion to serve the Lord, coach and lead that will make an immediate impact on and off the field with our program.”

Following his graduation from Northwest U, Chud and his wife Breanna moved to Dungannon, North Ireland where he played for the Irish Premier League and served as a youth pastor for 10 years. Chud was also instrumental in establishing the charity, Ambassadors in Sport and his involvement with the Ambassadors allowed him to travel to Africa—Sudan, Senegal, Mozambique and South Africa as a player/coach. He also played the final seven years of his career with Ambassadors FC of the Mid Ulster 1st Division where holds the records for goals scored averaging a goal per game.

Coach Chud has earned his Level 1 and Level 2 coaching licenses from the Irish Football Association and recently received his UEFA B Part 1 license.

“I am honored and consider it to be a huge privilege to return to NU and to accept this position,” Chud said. “I know there is huge talent and potential in this squad, and I am excited for the future of the program, both immediate and beyond.”
