Kirkland players help 12U Dragons team to tournament title

The Bellevue Dragons 12U baseball team, consisting of players from Eastlake, Issaquah, Mercer Island and Kirkland recently won the Trop Crown season opener tournament in Wenatchee. The team includes Kevin Nakahara, Jordan Dirks, Diachi Tamai and Casey Nelson from Kirkland.

The Bellevue Dragons 12U baseball team, consisting of players from Eastlake, Issaquah, Mercer Island and Kirkland recently won the Trop Crown season opener tournament in Wenatchee. The team includes Kevin Nakahara, Jordan Dirks, Diachi Tamai and Casey Nelson from Kirkland.

The Dragons won two games on Saturday evening, to end the day as the No. 1 seeded team going into games on Sunday. In the second day, the team won two more matches earning a spot in the title game. The team beat Seattle Select Black 8-4 for the title.

Twenty teams from around the region played in the two day tournament, with the top teams qualifying for the national Triple Crown Baseball World Series in Park City, Utah this summer.

The team will next play in the Seattle Memorial day tournament.
