Western Washington University’s Maeghan Callegari, the Vikings’ varsity coxswain, was named first-team Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association Division II Pocock All-American on May 28.

The Kirkland native played a key role in the university’s bid to win an eighth national title at the recent 12th Annual NCAA II National Championships held at Eagle Creek Park near Indianapolis, Ind.

The trip to nationals was the second for Callegari, who was seated in the varsity four last year.

The varsity eight, with Callegari, had gold-medal winning performances this spring at both the Western Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championship and the NCRC Championship regattas.

It is the 12th straight year that Western Washington has had a rower or rowers named to the CRCA All-American team.

Callegari graduated from Lake Washington High School in 2011.
