Two Kirkland residents won the 10th annual Benaroya Research Institute Triathlon at Seafair, an event held at Seward Park that draws thousands of athletes.
Of the 2,000 entered racers, Rusty Pruden and Kimberly Pancoast both won the event, featuring a half mile swim, 12-mile bike and 3.1-mile run. Pruden won the men’s event in 57 minutes and 5 seconds, breaking the three year course record by 8 seconds. Pancoast won the women’s race in 1:05.21.
