The Lake Washington volleyball team earned a spot in the SeaKing district tournament this week, after placing third in last week’s KingCo tournament.
The Kangs faced Bellevue in the first round of KingCo, which the team won 3-1. Against Bellevue, Lake Washington lost game one 25-21, before taking the next three 25-17, 25-15 and 25-19.
With the win the team moved into the second round against Mount Si, falling 3-0 (25-13, 25-15, 25-15).
Despite the loss, the team had earned a spot in districts, playing Liberty last Saturday for placing. The Kangs won the match, to become the No. 3 seed into districts.
Lake Washington will face Chief Sealth on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. at West Seattle High School. A win over the Seahawks would move the team into the second round, facing off against defending 3A state champs Seattle Prep. A loss to the Panthers would move the Kangs into the consolation round, playing Saturday at Sammamish High School at 1 p.m.
Cross town rivals Juanita lost to Liberty in the first round of the tournament Thursday night to end their season. The Rebels were 7-7 this season.
