The Juanita girls soccer team ended last week with a tie and a loss to undefeated Liberty.
On Tuesday, Juanita battled to a 1-1 tie with Mount Si. Leah Corra scored the first goal of the game for the Wildcats in the 42nd minute, but Kaila Bass tied the game with 66 minutes on the clock to even the game.
Thursday Juanita hosted the undefeated Liberty Patriots, losing 5-3. Sara Holden had the first goal of the game in the 25th minute, but it was followed a minute later by Shannon Daly’s goal for Liberty to make it 1-1. Karissa Radke scored next in the 36th minute to give the Rebels an edge, but again it was short lived, as Liberty scored in the 37th minute of the game.
After halftime the two teams continued to trade goals, with Radke scoring, this time assisted by Hannah Johnson, in the 43rd minute. It wasn’t until Kailiana Johnson scored in the 62nd minute that Liberty tied the game gain. After that, the Patriots scored two more unanswered goals to give the team the win.
Juanita lost to Interlake 3-2 on Oct. 25 in a KingCo game.
Sara Holden scored an unassisted goal for the Rebels in the 27th minute to give the team a 1-0 lead going into the second half.
Interlake’s Julia Banfi scored the Saint’s first goal in the 44th minute after a scoreless first half. Teammate Emma Ostlund followed up with another Saints goal in the 59th minute before Kalia Bass scored for Juanita’s second goal of the night in the 60th minute.
Despite tying the score, Juanita couldn’t hold on to the tie, with Interlake scoring on an Emma Bergstrom goal in the 77th minute.
Cross town from Juanita, the Lake Washington girls team traveled to Liberty on Tuesday, Oct. 18, losing 3-0. The Patriots had the first goal in the 8th minute, followed by the second in the 11th minute. Lake Washington played strong defense, battling until the 65th minute when Liberty scored the final goal of the game.
Thursday night Lake Washington hosted Bellevue during the final home game of the season. The team honored it’s six seniors, and beat Bellevue 1-0. Senior defender Jessie Zogg earned the goal, after taking a free kick from a foul on Emma Holm. Zogg’s kick sailed high, bouncing past the Bellevue keeper.
Despite their best efforts, Bellevue could not capitalize on chances after Lake Washington’s goal and the Kangs took the win.
Lake Washington beat Sammamish on Tuesday, Oct. 25 3-0. In the second to last game of the regular season, the Kangs earned the shutout.
Jessica Scovel earned the first goal, assisted by Kaiti Brixey in the 17th minute, before Scovel made her second of the night, this time assisted by Cassie Lively, in the 58th minute. Emma Holm made the final points of the night, assisted by Lively, with 77 minutes on the clock.
As of Thurday, Oct. 27 Lake Washington is 9-3-1 in league games and 9-4-2 overall, while Juanita is 1-9-3 in league and 2-10-3 overall.
