The Lake Washingon High football team won a defensive showdown with Kelso on Friday night at Mac Field in Kirkland, edging the Highlanders 12-8 for their second nonconference win of the season.

The Kangs (2-1) led 6-0 at halftime, thanks to a late touchdown pass from quarterback Adam Long to tight end Sean Gordon.

Ryan Clifford broke through on a 5-yard score in the fourth quarter, putting Lake Washington up 12-0.

The Highlanders (2-1) answered with a touchdown midway through the fourth quarter, and scored a safety with less than a minute to play. A last-second interception by Brayden Boyes at the 1-yard line sealed the game for Lake Washington.

Juanita 34, Bishop Blanchet 14

Playing without starting quarterback Dexter Mell or All-American running back Salvon Ahmed, the Juanita High football team managed a big nonconference win over Bishop Blanchet on Friday in Seattle.

The Rebels (1-2) led 21-0 at halftime.
