The Lake Washington cross country team’s each won a meet last week, with the boys earning their first win since 2008 and the girls taking first at the Leavenworth Invitational.
The team’s traveled to Liberty High School last Wednesday, competing against Bellevue and the Patriots. The race against Liberty was the Lake Washington’s boy first meet win since 2008.
Helping them to the victory, Devon Grove finished third with a 17:27 time. Kang teammate Aran Kagen was 10th overall with a 18:53 time, while Kenny Drabble took 14th in 19:26, while Jason Curlanis was 15th with a finishing time of 19:27. Nathan Maris took 17th overall in 19:31, while the 21st place finish went to Joe Castro who finished in 19:50 and Kurt Lamon was 24th overall in 20:39.
In the girls race, Chloe Burns finished 20th overall with a 24:36 time. Rianne Peterson was next finisher with a 21st place finish with a time of 24:40.
Saturday, Oct. 8 at the Leavenworth Invitational, the girls team took first place with a team score of 28 points. The boys were fourth overall with 95 points.
In the girls race Lacy Coan took fourth place with a time of 19:57, while Olivia Whidby was sixth overall at 21:14, and Lauren Gwinn was ninth at 21:50. Teammate Riley Toher was 10th overall with a 21:55 time and Anneke Kniestedt finished in 22:22 for a 12th place finish. Chloe Burns was 15th overall and was done in 23:00.
In the boys race, Grove finished in first place with a 15:49 time, while Joe Castro was 17th at 17:39 and Kenny Drabble was 21st in 17:57.
The Juanita cross country team hosted Interlake and Mount Si on Wednesday, Oct. 5 at Saint Edwards State Park in Kenmore.
In the girls race Alexis Manns had the team’s top finish with seventh place and a time of 20:57. Teammate Molly Grager finished eighth with a 21:39 time, and Emily Peterson was 11th with a 22:20 time. Rachel Blanch took 12th overall with a 22:30 time.
In the boys race Santos Zaid was third overall with a race time of 17:25, and James Bauman was fourth overall with a 17:29 time. Andrew Burt finished in 23rd place at 19:51.
Last weekend the Rebels traveled to Lakewood High School for the Hole in the Wall Invitational on Oct. 8.
In the girls race, Alex Manns took 21st overall with a 19:46 time, while Emily Peterson finished 87th at 21:46 and Rachel Blanch was 132nd in 22:58. In the boys race James Bauman was 41st at 17:16, Santos Zaid was 44th at 17:23, Erik Oldenburger came in at 162nd in 18:56, while Andrew Burt finished in 19:00 for a 165th finish and Ajay Joshi was 205th overall at 20:23.
