Lake Washington boys, Juanita girls basketball teams lose in district tournaments

Jordan Richter’s swan song was one for the ages.

Richter hit nine 3-pointers on Saturday evening for the Lake Washington High boys basketball team, but the Kangs fell to Eastside Catholic, 78-74, in the opening round of the Sea-King District tournament in Sammamish.

The loss knocked the Kangs (11-9) from the tournament in the loser-out round. Eastside Catholic moves on to face undefeated Nathan Hale in the first double-eliminatin round next week.

Saturday marked the final game for LW seniors Brandon Gockel, Sam Linsky and Richter.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

The stellar career of Juanita High senior Tea Adams came to an end with a 64-61 loss to Cleveland in the first round of the Sea-King District tournament on Saturday in Seattle.

Adams, who will play for San Diego State next season, holds the all-time scoring record at Juanita High School. Cleveland moves on to play Bishop Blanchet in the second round.

The Rebels finish the year with a 15-10 record.
