Liberty forcing a double overtime against Lake Washington on Jan. 4, which the Kangs survived for the 79-73 win.

Despite outscoring the Patriots 20-6 in the first quarter, Lake Washington lost some momentum in the second as Liberty made it a 35-26 game going into the half. Liberty used their home court advantage in the third to take the lead 50-45. But the Kangs were determined not to let the win pass the team by, tying the game with a 23 point fourth quarter to force overtime tied at 68 points apiece. Each team put up just two points in the first overtime period, but Lake Washington prevailed in the second with nine points to take the win.

Matt Staudacher had a game high of 33 points during the game, while Kramer Taylor added 18 points to the team’s total. Guy Lynott had 14 points, Robert Reyes had nine, Tate Coddington put up two, as did Darien Nelson-Henry while Drew Doane had one.

The following Friday the team beat Bellevue, the top team in KingCo 69-66. The team, who was without Nelson-Henry after a twisted ankle earlier in the week, had a big night from Staudacher with 20 points, followed by Kramer Taylor’s 18, Guy Lynott’s 11, Mike Hanson and Robert Reyes’ eight and four from Cody Bernstein.
