The Lake Washington girls basketball team clinched the No. 2 seed for next week's KingCo tournament on Friday night, despite losing 54-44 to Mount Si.

The Lake Washington girls basketball team clinched the No. 2 seed for next week’s KingCo tournament on Friday night, despite losing 54-44 to Mount Si.

After earning the No. 2 seed, the Kangs will begin the post season on Tuesday, Feb. 7 at 4:45 p.m. at Bellevue College against the winner of the Liberty, Mercer Island game on Monday.

Against the Wildcats, the Kangs, starting the night down 10-7 at the end of the first quarter, were down 29-24 at halftime.

After the break both teams hit nine points in the third  quarter, but Mount Si couldn’t be slowed in the final minutes of the game, giving the Wildcats the win.

Hunter Hopkins had 19 points for the Kangs during the game, followed by 11 from Peyton Wozeniak, six from Whitney Dunlap and three from Cassie Lively and Sara Wilson. Margo Lynott added two points for the team.
