The Lake Washington doubles team of Kelly Watanabe and Jessica Lund earned a state berth Wednesday after placing fourth in the SeaKing district tournament.
The duo, who help the Kangs finish sixth in the girls team competition, earned a spot at state after a semifinals loss to a duo from Bainbridge.
Watanabe and Lund lost 6-1, 6-4 to Grace Porter and Kate Jameson from Bainbridge. The Bainbridge pair would go on to place second in the tournament.
Despite the loss, the team still qualified for state, which begins Friday, May 27 in the Tri Cities. Tournament brackets will be available on Sunday, May 22 in the afternoon.
