Lake Washington earns KingCo tournament win | Prep soccer

The Lake Washington boys soccer team picked up a KingCo tournament win on Monday evening, beating Mount Si 2-1. The Kangs entered the tournament as the No. 3 seed in KingCo.

Against the Wildcats, Merlin Granados scored an unassisted goal to start things off in the 31st minute, but Eric Baumgardner followed for Mount Si in the 33 minute. Ricardo Oprenza finished things off for the Kangs off an assist from Justin Manao in the 78th minute to secure the win.

On May 3 the Kangs beat Sammamish, the league champions, in a 1-0 upset. Manao scored the only goal of the game off a penalty kick.

Sammamish has already secured a state berth from District two, while the winner of the KingCo tournament will play a Metro team for the final shot at a spot at state. The Kangs will travel to Mercer Island Wednesday night for the KingCo tournament title game. The game begins at 7 p.m. at Mercer Island High School.

Juanita beat Interlake, fall to Lake Washington to end season

The Juanita boys soccer season ended last week with a win and a loss. The Rebels beat Interlake 2-1 on Tuesday, May 3 after Nick Horne, assisted by Dylan Marshall and Oscar Fuentes, assisted by Aaron Gwin scored.

In the last game of the regular season, on Friday, May 6, the Rebels lost 4-1 to Lake Washington.

The Kangs lead the game 3-0, off goals from Cornielu Capusan, Taylor Stapf, Merlin Granaos and Adrian Simpson before Horne scored in the 70th minute of the match.
