Lake Washington girls finsh ninth at state cross country championships

The Lake Washington High girls cross country team finished ninth overall at the WIAA Class 3A state championships on Saturday, Nov. 5 at Sun Willows Golf Course in Pasco.

Junior Claire Cocales was the top finisher for the Kangs, coming in 38th with a time of 19 minutes, 49 seconds.

Freshman Belle Brandenfels finished 48th, sophomore Makena Billington finished 71st, senior bethan Clowers finished 82nd, sophomore Malia Lakman finished 90th, senior Kristen Buckinghan finished 96th and sophomore Emily Stoneman finished 124th.

Jodan Oakes, a senior at Holy Names Academy, won the 3A girls meet in 17:44. HNA won the girls’ team title with 53 points.

North Central won the boys’ team title with 61 points. Lincoln junior James Mwaura won the boys 3A title in 15:32.
