The Lake Washington girls basketball team dropped back below .500 Wednesday with a 59-40 loss to Garfield at home.
The Kangs struggled to get their offense going during the first quarter, scoring just eight points. The result was a 12-point deficit but the girls kept pushing the ball up the court, keeping pace with the high powered Bulldogs during the second quarter. But Garfield proved to be too much for the Kangs, pulling away during the final 12 minutes of the game as none of the Lake Washington players scored in double figures. Kasey Coffey (9 points), Sam Brender (8) and Colleen Walsh (7) led the Kangs in scoring.
The loss also drops Lake Washington into a tie for second place in the Crown Division. Lake Washington will attempt to get back on track at 6:30 p.m. Friday as they travel to Ballard.
