The Lake Washington High girls cross country team qualified for the state championships on Thursday, Oct. 28 at Woodland Park in Seattle.
The Kangs finished fourth at the Bi-District meet behind a big performance from junior Claire Cocales, who finished 15th in 19 minutes, 29 seconds. LW freshman Belle Brandenfels finished 28th and sophomore Makena Billington finished 35th.
Juanta senior Adrian Goodwin led the Rebels boys with a 25th-place finish in 16:34. Fellow senior Michael Gengo set a new PR of 16:52 for 43rd place.
Sophomore John Hentges was the lone representative for the Lake Washington boys, and finished 90th overall.
The WIAA Class 3A state championship meet is scheduled for Nov. 5 at Sun Willows Golf Course in Pasco.
