Lake Washington High’s girls cross country team won the 3A KingCo championship on Oct. 18 at Lake Sammamish State Park and qualifies for districts.
The Kangs’ top-10 runners were Belle Brandenfels (seventh, 20:12.54), Makena Billington (eighth, 20:27.99) and Chloe Cook (ninth, 20:30.87). Also making an impact for the Kangs were Emily Stoneman (13th, 20:54.72), Hannah Woten (18th, 21:24.13), Sophie Kirov (24th, 21:40.09) and Esther Strathy (43rd, 23:47.79).
District qualifiers from Juanita are Felicity Strzelec (fourth, 19:48.38) and Laura Benson (sixth, 19:51.0).
LW’s boys took third and qualify for districts.
Leading the way in the top 10 were Colton Bailey (fourth, 16:30.34) and John Hentges (10th, 16:59.53). Also running strong for the Kangs were Erick Moreno (11th, 17:06.26), Luca Andonian (14th, 17:12.41), Cody Heale (26th, 17:31.14), Colin Bleakney (31st, 17:42.51) and Grant Poupore (41st, 18:29.20).
The 3A SeaKing District 2 meet is Oct. 25 at Lower Woodland in Seattle. State is Nov. 3 at Sun Willows Golf Course in Pasco.
