The Kang’s suffered the same fate as the Rebels. Although Lake Washington (17-10) didn’t enter the tournament with the same accolades as Juanita, the Kangs were riding a three-game winning streak when they met Auburn Riverside in the first round.

Like the Rebels, they were also shut out, losing 5-0 and moving into the consolation round. The Kangs rebounded to blow out Cascade 12-0 in game two, with Janessa Johnson knocking in two runs on three base hits, one of which was a triple, to help Sara Aasness get the victory.

Lake Washington was eliminated in the following game by Mountainview, who beat the Kangs 4-2, ending Lake Washington’s season.

Kelson was the eventual 4A state champions, beating Mountlake Terrace 13-2 in six innings.
