The Lake Washington girls golf team kept their stroke count low on Monday afternoon to earn a 187-267 win over Woodinville at Bellevue Golf Course.
Despite the overall team score earning the Kangs with win, the girls from Woodinville took the top two individual spots. Bri Hemming shot a 48, course par is 35. Taylor Wolf had a 51 on for second, while her teammate Hillary Howell tied Anna Jessen of Lake Washington with a 54. Fifth place was also a tied between Elena Good of Lake Washington and Katie Reed of Woodinville, who each shot a 55.
Lake Washington boys soccer falls in overtime to Eastlake
It was a heartbreaking loss on Friday evening for the Lake Washington boys soccer team, who fell to Eastlake 3-2 in overtime. The Kangs started the night with a 2-0 lead, before Eastlake was able to return a point. Merlin Granados scored first for Lake Washington off an assist from Ryan Cox in the 22nd minute of the game. Just over 10 minutes later Corneliu Capusan, off of Jordan Zogg gave the Kangs a 2-0 lead in the 35th minute.
The lead was held until just before the half break when Nick Rudella scored for Eastlake off an assist from Trevor Seliber in the 45th minute.
After the half Eastlake persistently went to the goal, finally connected to tie the game in the 67th minute when Gerard Galvin connected with Simon Lee. The score remained tied at the end of regulation, forcing the overtime situation, when Sawyer Preston scored in the 81st minute off a pass from Sean Klauer.
Bellevue thumps Juanita in boys soccer
The Bellevue boys soccer team a much needed win to their season after beating Juanita last Friday 3-0 in the Rebels home stadium. The Wolverines, who are 4-7-4 this season, started the evening off with an unassisted goal by Ahmed Namrouti in the 15th minute of the game. He connected for a second time in the 43rd minute off an assist from Ryan Harbor. The game remained without any additional points until the very last few minutes when Race Sciabica scored, unassisted, in the 79th minute.
Juanita is 4-7-3 this season and will play it’s final game of the regular season on Thursday at Mount Si. Kick off is 7:30 p.m.
