Lake Washington softball climbs up the standings with solid run | Prep softball

The Lake Washington softball team, which started the season 0-5, won six of their last seven games for a 6-4 record. The team started the season in sixth place in the KingCo standings and now sit in the No. 3 spot. In the last week the team won all four of it's games, with a 3-1 win over Liberty on April 22 rounding out the week's wins.

During the game against Liberty Emilie Ronbeck threw for seven innings, and had 17 innings during the rest of the week, giving up just two earned runs. The Kangs continue to have strong hitting and are playing great defense lead by short stop Whitney Dunlap and second baseman Jenny Hill.

Earlier in the week, the team beat Interlake and Mercer Island in away games.

On April 20 against the Saints, Interlake was up 1-0 at the end of the first, and held the lead through four innings. In the fifth Lake Washington scored a run, while they added two in the sixth to take the win. The Kangs had two hits and one error, while Interlake had four hits with five errors. On April 21 the team beat Mercer Island 11-5.
