The Lake Washington High wrestling team improved to 3-0 in conference duals on Thursday, beating Sammamish 78-3 and Juanita 59-18 in a double dual at Redmond High School.
Kang freshman Elijah Lux scored the first win by fall in the 126-pound match against Juanita, pinning Juanita’s Kristian Lysted in the first round.
Lake Washington’s Hunter Giffard won by tech fall over Nate Ferrel in the third round at 132 pounds and Gabe Bivens pinned Juanita’s Chandler Logsden in the second round.
Lake Washington senior Bilal Khilfeh and Juanita’s Nate Martin went late into the third round at 170 pounds before Kilfeh rallied to take a lead and eventually pin Martin.
Kang sophomore Zach Schuester won by first round fall over Juanita’s Jake Kim in the 220-pound bout.
Juanita’s Carter Lejoie pinned LW’s Isaiah Simonian in the first round at 195 pounds, and Juanita’s John Nascimento pinned LW’s Alex Garry in the first round at 285.
Juanita’s King Kotalas won by 7-4 decision over Lake Washington’s Logan Heenan in the 120-pound match, and Juanita’s Dane Garman won by 9-4 decision over LW 138-pounder RJ Hetges.
Max Reisman (106), Marton Teichner (113), Maussey Hosseini (152) and Colbo Coco (160) accepted forfeits for Lake Washington in the Juanita match.
Of seven contested matches with Sammamish, the Lake Washington won six by fall. The lone win for Sammamish came at 145 pounds with a 7-4 decision by Tristan Stayner over Gabe Bivens.
Next, Juanita is scheduled to compete in the Highline Public Schools Invitational on Jan. 7 at Mount Rainier High School in Des Moines.
Lake Washington is set to take on Mercer Island at 7 p.m. on Jan. 12 at Lake Washington High School.
