Lake Washington and Juanita’s softball squads powered past their opponents in the first round of the 3A SeaKing District tournament on Tuesday.
LW beat Chief Sealth, 22-0, and Juanita downed Bishop Blanchet, 22-8, at the Southeast Athletic Complex (SAC) in Seattle.
LW highlights were pitcher Jane Wilson earning the win and giving up just one hit (she also had two hits); Marissa Ewald blasting a grand slam during her three-hit and six-RBI day; and Olivia Smallman notching three hits and four RBIs.
The Kangs advance to play Ballard at 3 p.m. today at SAC.
For Juanita, slugger Sasha Mitchell amassed five hits — including a homer — and six RBIs.
The Rebels received two hits each from Brynn Radke and Kristina Warford, and pitcher Megan Murray got the win and pitched in with her bat with three RBIs.
Juanita will next play No. 1-seeded Holy Names Academy at 5 p.m. today at SAC.
