LW, Juanita to face off in loser-out baseball contest

Lake Washington and Juanita’s baseball teams lost in the opening round of the 3A KingCo playoffs on May 4 at Bannerwood Park in Bellevue.

Mercer Island defeated the Kangs, 5-4, and Interlake downed the Rebels, 9-3.

The Kirkland teams will face off at 4 p.m. on May 6 in a loser-out game at Bannerwood.

In the Mercer Island game, the Islanders scored three runs in the top of the seventh inning to extend their lead to 5-1, but LW answered with three in the bottom of the seventh and came up just short.

LW got three singles from Ricky Koishida (RBI), Jose Vizcarra (two RBIs) and Nick Anderson, and I-Ly Hsue added an RBI.

For Juanita, Tyce Peterson homered and singled and had two RBIs, and Kyle Fukutomi and Austin Santiago singled.
