Northwest University made another step toward it’s first ever softball team, announcing John Bacon as the team’s head coach. He will begin in December 2011 and begin recruiting for the team which will join the Cascade Collegiate Conference in the spring of 2013.

Bacon has been a fastpitch coach for over nine years, and currently coaches at Kirkland Junior High and the Patriots U16 travel team. His teams have competed at the ASA Western National Championships, the NSA Western World Series and the Colorado Fireworks tournament. He is a faculty member at Northwest, where he is an assistant professor of business.

“It is a privilege to be chosen to be the inaugural coach for the softball program at Northwest,” said Bacon in a press release. “There are such rich traditions in NU athletics that we will strive to build into the fabric of Eagle softball. Coaching at Northwest also allows for the creation of a total athlete; one that is physically superior, mentally capable, and spiritually strong. Again, I am very privileged to be a part of the lives of the young women who will come and help build Eagle Softball and watch them become the person God has intended them to become.”
