Northwest University’s women’s head soccer head, Bryan Chud, announced the signing of Kierstin Patefield to a national letter of intent to attend and play soccer for the Eagles in fall, 2017.
“I’m very pleased to say that Kierstin will be joining NU this fall, giving us even more competition at the goalkeeping position,” NU coach Bryan Chud said. “We have been monitoring Kierstin this past year, and have been very impressed with her natural, athletic ability. She is fearless, has great reflexes and shot stopping ability and is a fierce competitor who only wants to improve. It was an honor to coach her sister Lauren, and it is exciting for us to bring another Patefield into the Northwest University Women’s Soccer Program.”
Patefield, a 5-foot-6 goalkeeper from Puyallup, Wash., will graduate from Cascade Christian High School this spring and plans on majoring in Nursing at NU.
Patefield has earned high honors in the classroom four straight years at CCHS. She is a two-time team captain and a three-time Nisqually League Goalkeeper of the Year.
In her junior year, Kierstin earned WSCA 1A State Goalkeeper of the Year honors and was named to the second team, WSCA All-State team in her senior season. A multi-sport athlete, she won the Nisqually League and West Central District championship in the high jump while placing 6th at the state championships. Kierstin is the sister of former All-CCC goalkeeper Lauren (Patefield) Hellum.
