Northwest University’s Alysanne Van Dyke was recently voted the Red Lion Cascade Collegiate Conference Defender of the Week by the league office.
Van Dyke, a senior from Edmonds, led the team in digs and service aces (13) in the Eagles’ four-match series at the 2017 Summer Slam in southern California last week as the Eagles opened their season with a 3-1 record, their best start since 2006.
Van Dyke’s 96 digs puts her in the No. 5 spot in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics and No. 8 in digs per game. She ranks No. 1 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference digs per game (6.4) after the first week of the season.
The Eagles will leave later this week for Montana and the Big Sky Challenge in Butte, hosted by Montana Tech.
